owen_headshot.jpeg

Owen Armentrout is a journalist, filmmaker, and musician who currently attends Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, double majoring in journalism and film. He is in his fourth year, and as of the winter semester, he has managed to maintain a 3.94 GPA. He aspires to become a war correspondent, accomplished documentarian, and eventually release albums when his time and wallet permit it.

His articles generally revolve around politics, as he's published pieces regarding the mismanagement of the Department of Government Efficiency, tariffs, grey wolf management, etc., although he also enjoys reviewing concerts and movies. Most recently, he covered the situation in Gaza post-ceasefire. He's interviewed professors from UCLA, Northwestern, USC, Michigan State, etc. He is proficient in AP style, incorporates effective multimedia elements, and is actively seeking an internship. *cough* *cough*

He has worked on 6 short films, bouncing around between cinematographer, actor, and director. He's most proud of his documentary Vonecker, an observational piece surrounding a day in the life of his tattoo artist uncle. Although his directorial debut Cannolis recently won an award for best film in the "Michigan-ish" category at the Independent Ypsilanti Film Festival. He wants to hone his skills in screenwriting, cinematography, and directing.

As for music, he released one song titled Fear and Loathing in Detroit in September 2022. However, he is currently working on a ten-song project that he hopes to roll out sometime in early 2026.
